The inspiration to make my own nut butter came to me when I was living in Mississippi, serving on a farmer's market board. I wanted to get more involved with the farmers market, and did this by starting a company. This led to the creation of my first brand, Bare Batch Nut Butter, which was well-received at a farmers market. I toured a peanut farm, where I learned about the entire process of peanut farming. I used a bunch of my favorite ingredients like coffee, dark chocolate, oatmeal, spices, and dried fruits when I was experimenting with making nut butter.
Encouraged by the positive response, I made the leap and left my office job to pursue my passion project full-time in California, my home state. I rebranded as Sequoia Nut Butter to pay homage to my favorite national park.
